The South China dispute and it’s consequences over the leading tensions between the Republic of China & the United States of America.
Differences arising from the other end.
The Republic of China and the United States of America are having tensions from each side because of the recent actions and decisions by both the countries over the western portion of Pacific Ocean, The South China Sea.
The Chinese domination over the South China Sea.
The South China Sea is a marginal sea located in Pacific Ocean. Moreover, a trade route which accounts almost a third of the global maritime trade. Being a huge oil and natural gas reserve and even serving as a fishing ground making a lot of people dependent over it for food and livelihood.
The importance of the South China Sea makes China want it as under its geographical control.
China to prove this, claims to hold historical rights over it. To show it’s control china is illegally getting into the Exclusive Economic Zone of its neighbours - Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia violating the UN convention - Law of the sea. It is even building and fortifying artificial islands claimed by Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.
The role of United States of America in the issue.
United States of America accounted the actions of China legitimately incorrect and ultimately unlawful. It made a statement over wanting peace and stability over the South China Sea upholding freedom of sea to international law, maintaining an unhindered flow of commerce and oppose any attempt to force to settle disputes.
In July, 2020, USA sailed with two aircrafts through the Taiwan Strait, the sensitive waterways that separates Taiwan from China.
The Chinese Defence Ministry protested against it and accused the USA of escalating things.
The best possible solution visible.
As per taking the fact that the South China Sea is getting militarise, the ASEAN {Association of Southeast Asian Nations} countries need to come together to negotiate with other countries and China to have an agreement over the territorial occupancy of each country over the water body.
