India being the largest Democracy in the world is now only a partly-free country.

According to the report, it states that India has fallen from the past status of a 'free country, which means the people enjoyed every type of freedom to a 'partly free country, which means people are deprived of their rights and freedoms. The report stated the Political Rights and Civil Liberties in the country deteriorated since 2014 as BJP led NDA came in power.
India was supposed to be the champion of democratic practice.
India being the largest democracy was supposed to represent how a smooth and efficient economy must work and to counter-weight the Chinese but Modi's government would rather turn itself authoritarian. The Report says, on the national lockdown - "It was a ham- fisted lockdown, with no preparation for people who were not financially stable and self-sustainable." on Press Freedom- "The government has cracked down the critics." on the recent Draconian laws "The government attempts to scapegoat Muslims."
The Report concluded - India seems to have abandoned its potential to serve as a global democratic leader.
