FARMERS PROTEST-A SUMMARY

HOW MANY DAYS SINCE THE PROTEST STARTED?

The Farmers started the protest on 9 August 2020 and protested for 6 months, 2 weeks and 4 days as on March 1st.

THE REASON BEHIND THE PROTEST?

The Farm Bills (now laws) passed in the Parliament are the reason behind this protest. This protest is also sometimes seen as a symbol of resistance against the current Facist Central Government.

The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Faciltation) Act 2020,The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.

HOW MANY PROTEST POINTS?

The Farmers have set up temporary stay camps and have blocked all the main highways to the Capital, Delhi. Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri, and many more local points and borders.

HOW MANY CASUALTIES?

Farmers unions claim 70 farmers have died at the protest sites. Many protestors and activists also injured from the extreme cold weather and police water cannons.
