STOP the Central Vista Project

Recently 12 Opposition party leaders wrote to Prime Minister Modi to suspend the Central Vista Project and instead start free Mass Vaccination, campaign 3 against cOVID. The project is being built on a whopping budget of *20,000 crore. The plan envisages the construction of new parliament, prime minister's and Vice President's residence along with 10 building blocks that will accommodate all government ministers and departments.

Why so many are opposing the Project?

The central Government has been facing rigid opposition from several cabins for going ahead with the Central Vista Redevelopment Project amid the going COVID-19 Pandemic. The NDA Government allocated 20,000 crore to the project in March. At the time, the COVID-19 Pandemic had begun to spread its tentacles in the country.

The situation in India at present is nothing short extreme. People are dying in hospitals due to lack of oxygen and thousands have been denied admissions due to lack of oxygen or beds. The nation is gasping for air and this isn't something that propped overnight. he parliamentary standing committee on health has warned the government of acute shortage of oxygen as far back as in October 2020. The nonsensical line of reasoning resorted by the government last year was the contraction of Indian economy, In the wake of Pandemic, was an "Act of God".

The government isn't listening the People's cry!

While all this was going on, the contract of 20k crore Central Vista Project was awarded in September 2020 and the construction began in January 2021. Add to it all, the project has been awarded an Essential services' tag during the Second wave. The government must wake up before the house is on fire. Being wise in decision-making is perhaps the most valued in our nation.
